NJSTA’s Maitland P. Simmons Memorial Award Committee announces its 2017 Summer Institute 21st Century Science Connections: Real World Applications for the Classroom July 17-21, 2017 College of St. Elizabeth, Morristown, NJ
The shell of the nautilus grows through extending and increasing the number of chambers. Such is our knowledge of Science, where new ideas are built on what has come before.
This five day institute will investigate implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards from a multi-discipline perspective. 24 middle school teachers will gain a new understanding for science applications and classroom pedagogy. Educators will discover innovative methods of engaging students through natural phenomena in dimensional science activities.
New Jersey Science Teachers’ thirteenth annual Maitland P. Simmons Memorial Award Summer Institute will be dynamic and student centered. Throughout the sessions, teachers will be offered opportunities to collaborate and enrich their ideas. The productive goal is to transform learning experiences into lessons.
Middle school teachers of Grades 6-8 are welcome to apply. Those who are accepted for the Institute must become NJSTA members in order to participate.
